Dr. Christopher D. Jones's research interests include both forward inverse problems in ocean acoustics at the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington. He is involved in research on scattering from and within ocean sediments, as well as inversions of acoustic signals to examine biological activity, hydrothermal plume flow, and particle size distributions.

Dr. Peter A. Rona is a Professor in the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. His present work includes development and application of innovative methods to acoustically image and measure seafloor hydrothermal flow. He is a pioneer in research on ocean ridges ann continental margin processes who has made many discoveries including the first hydrothermal vents found in the deep Atlantic ocean. He publishes extensively (over 250 scientific papers, 5 edited books and multiple edited issues of journals) and contributions readership to public science centers.
